There should be a set of lightweight 18's that will do the job, but will have to make sure the offset will clear the brakes, as you mention.
Getting a lighter, stronger wheel that you don't care if they get hard use at the track is the way to go - and like you said, 18's give more tire selection....that's what i'm gonna do with either an RS4 or E90 M3 - i just gotta make up my mind on the car...!

if you like them, keep for street and buy 18's for track. if you don't like them, use them for the track. I'm assuming you're not planning any *competitive* track events, in which case lightest possible would be best.
if you keep the 19's for track, the Pirelli Corsas are of course a readily available tire option....and you can drive those to and from the track, if you want. |
