Trunk latch noise? Wind noise when going 60+mph

When you unlock the trunk (remote/trunk release) then close the front doors, it re-unlocks the trunk. Does it happen to anyone else? Also anyone else have to slam the trunk quite hard to get it to shut? It'd be nice to just drop it and have it shut and lock. The wind noise from the driver side window is driving me up the wall. Anyone got a quick fix?

Yes it would be nice if the hatch lid would "suck" itself down if you brought it close enough to the latch. Though I wouldn't say I have to "slam" mine to get it to close properly and engage the latch. In fact, closing the hatch is very comfortable for me if I use the handle located on the interior of the hatch (vs. trying to press down on it from the exterior/paint outside the hatch.) When I use the interior handle, I do kind of a *fist pump* motion that pulls my fist (fingers facing up) in a swinging motion ending at my waist, and that really doesn't seem to take much effort to close the trunk. My wife seems to be able to close the trunk just fine too. If she can do it, nobody else can have an excuse. (Ok, if you're 90 years old and frail, I'll accept that, but then I would think closing the trunk would be the least of your worries because you would have way more trouble getting in and out of the car!).

Can't comment on wind noise, wonder if it's the mirror design/shape. Does your window automatically raise 10mm whenever you close the door? If it's not raising, that might explain the wind noise.

trunk closed hard enough to latch a couple times when I first got the car. I just figured it's a German car thing & learned to use more force when closing it. As a long time ragtop owner, wind noise is just part of life. This is the quietest droptop I've owned. And seals well, with no water intrusion during it's only auto carwash - touchfree of course.

Yeah I close it just like you mentioned. Using the handle on the inside of the trunk door.
It just required a bit more force than I thought it should. Would have been nice if it could just shut when it drops. I keep closing it too soft and end up having to reopen it to close it again. To reopen it you have to either press on the remote or hit the button on the driver door. There should be a hidden button back there.

The wind noise is actually coming from the the end of the door window where it meets the quarter window for the rear. It just started happening about a month ago. Tried cleaning the area...bending the rubbers around. Nothing seems to work. The car is pretty quiet under 60 but when traveling at around 65+mph it starts to make this whistle noise. Anyone got a suggestion other than to take it in for service?

I just read in the manual that Audi deliberately didn't offer a latch release button on the outside of the car as a safety measure when the car was parked/idling while unlocked (I think the manual even mentions a stoplight scenario where your valuables in the trunk could be vulnerable?).

I'll have to check the wind noise over 65. It was fine below 60 last night when I remembered to listen carefully.

About the wind noise. Mine probably has a problem...because it wasn't like this before. It just started happening about a month ago. Thanks for the help.

I have the same noise coming from the same area as you mentioned. it only happens to the driver side. I've taken the car to two dealers. They have adjusted the dorr striker, window, & replaced the seals...... nothing works.

It's this whistling noise at 65+mph. I've read that playing with the rubber seals (pulling them towards you and running your finger along the seal...they called it "fingering"...haha) has helped some of the UK people with this problem.

Strangely enough it's only on the left side of the car.

Hope this helps...I guess I'll go try again since the dealer doesn't seem to be able to fix it.
