Default Why is Audi still using plastic 'paddle shifters'?

Just drove the 2.0 TT and really don't have anything to add that hasn't been said, other than the traction control light blinking intermittently whenever I would take off on the freeway on-ramps. With FWD, aftermarket power upgrades are limited as the system is already under stress with the current torque of the turbo motor. Will drive a 3.2 with Quattro in a week or so that should provide a better basis to form my MK2 TT opinion.

About the plastic paddles - I can't see a nicely built aluminum paddle costing THAT much more and most of us would gladly pay the extra $100 or so that it costs over the plastic version. It's not only the TT that uses plastic either, as I believe the A3 does and definitely the A4 S-Line also. Interesting that many of the Japanese automakers are using aluminum and they aren't even companies that are known for their interiors. Sorry but it just seems un-characteristic of a high-end car, much less an Audi.

"leather wrapped 3 spoke multifinction steering wheel (includes alloy paddle shifters on S-tronic)"

Your guess is good as mine.

Default That sounds legit. "Aluminum Optic" on the other hand would lead me to a different conclusion.

Default Thanks, still the basic 2.0t TT isn't a cheap car. It should have aluminum paddles IMO

Particularly since the A3 and R32's get them.
