Default Converting Analog OnStar to Work in Digital??? 2004 A6 WTF??

Click the image to open in full size.

WTF were they thinking in 2003-2004 to still use analog? Why not go dual back then? They lost serious business now by saving pennies then.

Can a dealer upgrade this 2004 MY junk setup??

from wiki

If the vehicle is from the 2003, 2004, or 2005 model year, an adapter costing approximately $200 (includes a one year subscription) can be installed at the customer's expense. If it is older, it will simply no longer be usable.[6] A law firm in Pennsylvania representing some of the affected customers sought to have a class certified for a class action lawsuit for damages claimed in the cancellation of OnStar service.[7]

Default No, but you can upgrade to OEM bluetooth fairly easily...

...you just need to buy the module, BT antenna, and a wire connector. You basically swap out the on-star module, move a few wires from the on-star connector to the BT connector, plug in, and you are in business.
