Default To me Avants are just as much part of the audi brand as quattro is.

I would be very surprised if audi would stop making the A4 avant.

In the Netherlands, over half of all A4's sold are Avants. And the rest of Europe this figure is more or less the same I guess.

Default I can remember being scared about the coming of the big grille.

Well, I'm scared again, if the B8 might look anything like this.

I will wait to see, of course, but I am not encouraged.

Default Looks like I won't be holding off my order of a B7! The B8 is hideous!

Default Not sure exactly why, but it looks very big and well, muted is the first word that comes to mind

And the side shot of the avant is absolutely horrible.

Default Those renderings look like something Chris Bangle would come up with....that's NOT a good thing...

Thank goodness these are just "guesses" 'cause if that where the final product I would be VERY disappointed.

Default Re: Reading between the lines....

on numerous articles on Audi (between Fourtitude, etc). I am guessing the AoA will bring the Avant over in only auto transmission form. I hope NOT, but from what I have read it sounds like they will limit the options on the model but still bring it over. I hope my guess is wrong!

The Avant rendering is an interesting one, it looks like a cross between the A4 Avant, A6 Avant, BMW 3 series wagon and the chop topped Chrysler Magnum wagon. I am not sure how I feel about it, but it is not love at first sight.

Cheers,

Chuck

Default Couldn't agree more. . .

Audi won't stop making a product that they can sell everyone that they produce. The European market demands Avants. The US market less so.

On the other hand, I can see Audi of America limiting the versions of Avants imported into America even more in the future. The idea that AoA won't import manual A4's seems highly unlikely, but possible. They have to compete with BMW who continue to import the 3 series Avant in a manual version.

Does anyone know the current mix of A4's in America? transmission choices?
