no exciting spots to take pictures of the sunrise that aren't littered with cookie cutter homes, so i tried to use this plant near the clubhouse

all shots were taken in AV mode at f1.8, roughly 1/125-200

thoughts? and because i don't have PS yet and apparently can't edit pictures for crap, i'm just going to post pictures straight as they came from the camera.

i definitely think i'm getting more the hang of things with this camera. obviously i have TONS more to learn, but i'm getting some more basic features down. hopefully i'll come back with some halfway decent shots next week when i'm in MD.

Default for the best quality, try to stay away from f1.8

yes, it's great that the lens can do 1.8 for interior shots and situations with very little available light, but the lens becomes much better quality by 2.8 - so try to shoot there or above when you can. As long as you can keep shutter speeds above 1/60 or 1/80 you won't have trouble with blur.

Default true with all lenses, avoid maximum aperture by a stop or so for optimal quality

maximum aperture is for creative limitation of DOF and to get a shot you won't get otherwise due to low light

Default I've found mine is noticably sharper at f2 than at 1.8. It's a fun (and cheap!) lens to have

Default You're allready getting better matt...

Keep working on your framing, the last few have too much empty space.

Default yeah, that'd be cool.

a buddy of mine wants me to shoot some city stuff to put up in his house so i'm trying to do that in the next few weeks. i'm gone this weekend and moving next, but anytime after that i'd be free.

Default Cool. Hit me up when you get some time. I'm pretty slammed until after 10/1 as well.
