What is your milage? Our Q7 needs $2000 worth of brakes after 24K miles of 95% highway driving. Seems ridiculous to have that kind of maintenance after 18 months. Not suprisingly Audi deleted brakes from its warranty.

is they run hotter (as I understand it) and can lead to damage on the rotors.
There is a balance between P and Rs and for the Q7 it appears that the standard brakes are as good as it gets. The makers of ceramic brake pads even recommend the standard pads for this car. There have been several threads here before. Try a search under ceramics, ceramic or Hawk for other views.

Just had mine done. Thought that was expensive, but I'm told by Audi that all of their discs are meant to be replaced, not machined. Obviously it's a good way for them to cash in, but seems a little over the top.
Anyone ever machined their discs and just replaced the pads? |

I like good brakes. Anyway they last fine if you dont roast em all the time.
