Default Dead Battery - No indications or trouble up to shutting Q off on Wed. Went to

to town (took my mom's A4) came back - cooling fan was running, pushed unlock on key fob, lights flashed once - doors didn't unlock, fan stopped. Couldn't get in with the key. Called service dept at the dealership, they said call Roadside assistance, made the call to set up the pick-up. time elapsed was about 30 minutes - go out, key fob unlocked doors, then no juice, no interior lights etc. It has a little over 22,000 miles, almost 19 months old - Service calls Thursday afternoon - battery is shot, said until they put a new one in they won't know if there is a problem. This doesn't sound right that a battery just goes dead after the car ran fine. Any Ideas? or Anyone with similar problem.

Default Batteries can go fast... Fired up my A6 one morning and it started up normal

drove to the store about 5 minutes away and when I came out from shopping it was dead, wouldn't even turn over.

Default We had a similar problem several times

Dealer jumped the car, battery self charged and all was fine - until it happened again. Audi issued a TSB mid-2007 for this problem. The fix had something to do with the ignition switch wire routing. Since the TSB work, all has been fine. Have your dealer research TSB's to determine if this applies to your Q7. Sorry, I don't have the TSB #.

Default Re: Could not find TSB info but I did find the repair order

Ignition switch part number 4F0-910-131-L was replaced. Part was $218.78; labor $131.27. Both covered under warranty.

The repair was done August 18, 2007 which means the TSB should have been published just prior to August 18. Hopefully your dealer can find it or someone on this board can get you a copy.

Default Us too

Ours dies radomly 1 week after we bought our car(and it was a custom ordered car so had not been sitting on the lot for a while). We jumped it, took it to the dealer and they said everything was fine. About 2 mths ago it happened again out of the blue. Jumped it and everything was fine again. We took it in to be sure and the "battery manager" was replaced. It is part #4LO-910-181. No issues yet but it has been a short time.

Default Re: Dead Battery - Power Managment

All of this dead battery stuff. This is not supposed to happen with power managment, it should shut down systems to allow you to start the vehicle but its not happening

Default Possibly, TSB 91-07-13: "Battery dead or low after returning to vehicle"

2007 Audi Q7 up to VIN 7D063347

Condition:
The vehicle battery is or is almost discharged and the Energy Management Control Module J644 indicates an increased static current in order of 700 mA

Technical Background:
Due to a software issue, the Radio R might not enter sleep mode if the ignition is turned off and the radio power remains on.

Production Solution:
Software improvement in Model Year 2007

Service
Evaluate the vehicle battery historical data stored in the Energy Management Control Module J644....

====

What follows are instructions on verifying the current draw condition and instructions on how to update the MMI with new software to correct this condition. The update CD is part # 4F0 906 961 AB (and contains MMI version 3360, IIRC)
