Default Q5 competitor from Nissan

Saw this on Autoweek.com today.

Jason, when do you think we'll have a Q5 forum up-and-running? Thanks!

Default big meh...

..plus no diesel.

I am only buying a Q5 w/ TDI. If the Q5 does not launch w/ the 3.0l TDI. I am not buying. I will wait till the following year, or buy a competing model w/ a diesel. That upcoming Merc GLK I'm sure will have a diesel.

It's a Nissan. In the UK we don't have the Infiniti brand yet, thank goodness. It's just a Nissan with a V6 engine designed and made by Renault. As such it's sales in Europe will be non-existant. Surely, even in the US, Nissan can't be thought of as a competitor for Audi ?

Default Actually, the Infiniti brand is a direct competitor to Audi in the US.

The M35 is a direct competitor to the A6 here in the states. It's been getting great reviews by all of the US car magazines. And, yes, you can get AWD as well.

Do you have Lexus in the UK, or just Toyota? In Japan, Lexus has just become available or will soon. In the US, Lexus competes against all the European luxury brands, as well as Acura and Infiniti.

We have had Lexus since 1993 or so, we don't have Infiniti or Acura, though Honda plan (and need) to introduce Acura in two years.

The UK is a country where BMW sold more 3-Series (despite the fact they're pig-ugly) than Ford sold mondeos. We're hung up on brands !!! Trouble is the brands are diluting themselves too... we have the Jaguar X-Type (which is a Ford Mondeo in drag), we have the BMW 1-Series which is laughable... it's very confused. Most people over here who buy premium cars have no idea at all as to why they have done it !!! BMW of course don't need to dilute their brand, their Business Prevention Officers have ensured that the entire car range is so odd looking that it wasn't necessary. ;-)

Default Interesting. I did hear that the new Mondeo is pretty good product. . .

for the money. I saw a UK review on the web, and the guy really liked the car for the money. Have you driven it yet?

Yes, I'm not a big fan of Bangled Motor Werkes these days. Really like the new engine in the 335, but the car is pretty ugly, in my opinion.

Best have a shufty at this link. Mr Clarkson is probably the most well known motoring journalist, together with his Top Gear show / magazine. He hates the Q7 but his reviews are funny in the extreme... worth a look... especially at the 335 and new 335 cabrio

And this is a pretty good resume of countries and their output ...
