the I5 motor can run on only 3 cylinders.
My buddy's S4 with AAN was having a coilpack misfire on cylinders 2 and 3. #3 was completely gone and #2 was intermittent. Symptoms were slightly rough idle, gas smell, No power, gas smell in the oil. He brought the car to me after trying a few of the shops in town who failed to even try unplugging the fuel injectors to see if there was a change in the idle. I did a test replacement of his MAF, Air temp, ISV, etc. No change. He said his car did this when cold too, so that ruled out his O2 sensor.

Anyways, While his coilpacks are being shipped I thought it best to unplug his #2 and #3 injector so he wasn't washing the cylinders. The car actually maintained an idle on only 3 cylinders!. Not only that, it was quite drivable and able to get him home and take the car up to highway speeds.

Cylinders were plenty wet...toasted the cat in about 50km. But hey, we got 'er home!
