Default Q7 4.2 FSI Engine - Interference?

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a Q7 4.2 Premium. For the experts in here, can you tell me if this engine is an interference type? Thanks!

Default shouldn't matter, it's timing chain-not timing belt.

Default What you allready buying one with 90K miles or something?????

And if you got enough money to buy a new one, why do you care about a $2000 service 90,000 miles down the road?

If it's a timing belt on an interference engine like the 1.8T, I wouldn't let it go beyond 60-70K miles! That's why I want to know. I know that the 1.8T engine is interference BEFORE I bought a brand new car with that engine but I always keep reminding myself not to change the belt (and the tensioner) too late.

Knowing it early will help me (and I assume others looking for the same answer as well) prepare/avoid major repairs [and the headaches that comes with it] down the road.

Since this is the 4.2 V8 engine forum, I believe asking that question is justified, rather or not I have enough money to buy a new or a used car.

For those that's not sure why I want to know the answer to my original question, an interference engine will lost its synchronization between the Valve and Piston if the timeing belt slaps. This usually will cause major damages (read: lots of $$$$$ to repair) and the best way to avoid a major repair like that is to change the timing belt and tensioner BEFORE it slaps for an Interference Engine.
