Where exactly is the coolant temp sensor in our engine bays?
Planning on replacing it due to a VAG-COM report saying it's giving sporadic readings. I tried looking for it this morning but couldn't find it. It was kinda dark in my garage and I only gave it a quick once-over since I had to be off to work. I saw something that looked like it could be it near the back of the engine bay towards the passenger side. It was laid out vertically. But I didn't see a C-clip holding it in so I didn't think that was it. Thanks for any help!

I don't have a TT, but do have an A3 with the same engine ...
I can seach my Bentley Repair manual(CD-ROM) when I get home tonight.
You'd probably have better luck asking on the TT(MK1) forum. The VR6 forum doesn't get much traffic and when it does it's often from A4 and A6 owners (w/3.2 V6's) posting to the wrong engine board.

Hope this helps...
General location of temp. sensor is #24 on left image. The second smaller image is a detailed view of the sensor/connector. It's located about 6-8" below the oil filler cap.

Thanks for the diagram!
Someone on the MK1 forum helped me locate it and it's where you specified. I also went out and bought a Bentley manual. It was a b!tch to get to even with my small hands. I eventually ended up getting it replaced at the shop while I was getting something else done. I didn't see them do it but is it easier to access from underneath with the bellypan off? I was having my tranny fluid changed so it was off.
