You can take the edge of the rotor furthest away from the caliper and pull it toward you. This acts as a lever when the caliper is on the car with the pads in place. It will force the pads futher apart inside the caliper. Remember to loosen the cap on the master cylinder resevior first. Or better yet loosen the bleed screw to keep from forcing dirty fluid back up thru the system.
If that does not work, get a good sized C clamp. Put it in the middle of the pad on the outboard side of the caliper, then find some sort of platform to use on the back of the caliper for the other end. This is a good way to fully retract the piston, but do not force the piston once it gets really firm. |
