Default wheel fitment question...

If a wheel fit on the B6 S4 will it fit a B7 A4? I hear the brake calipers on the B7's are big and have clearance issues with a lot of wheels that fit just fine on the B6 A4 models. I can't imagine the B7 A4 brakes have bigger calipers than the B6 S4's do they?

Default I think you will likely be fine if the wheel fit a B6 S4.

IIRC the B6 & B7 S4 and the B7 A4 use the exact same caliper, just different size discs.

B6,B7 S4 = 345 X 30 FNRG-60
B7 A4 = 320 X 30 FNRG-60

But the B6 A4 brakes were a lot smaller and used a different caliper.

B6 A4 = 288 X 25 FN3-57

So I can see why B6 A4 wheels may have fitment issues on a B7 A4.

Default Not all B6 A4's are created equally ;-)

B7 A4 shares the calipers with the B6/B7 S4. If the wheel fits the S4, it will fit the B7 A4.

Default The calipers are the same, but S4 rotors are slightly larger (even in the B6)

So if the wheels fit a B6 S4, it should fit a B7 A4 or S4 just the same.

B7 A4 rotors are 12.6 inches, the S4 rotors are 13.6 inches, and as stated earlier- the calipers are the same.

Default B7s have a newer version of the same caliper... but smaller rotor.

And your car may be faster in a straight line, but I'd bet you'd have a hard time shaking an equally modded B7 on a track with corners.

We'll eventually get some Stage 3 setups for the B7, and I'd bet that would be equivalent to a the S4 Stage 3- (minus) There are a few guys making REALLY good power on the 2.0T with K03s and a few more on K04s.

Default Do you mean the B6 car was smaller or the just the brakes.... because

The B6 is the same exact size as the B7, but the brakes on the B6 A4 are pathetically small and inefficient, IMHO.

Default I can belive it. I was in a GT28 powered 1.8T and it felt like Stage 2-2+ S4 in terms of speed

The same sort of setup on the 2.0T would put somewhat close to a 3- S4. The 2.0T is a very nice motor.

The B5 S4 (lighter 2000 models) and the B7 A4 2.0T are about the same weight so assuming same suspension setups etc. the A4 should have a slight edge in the corners due to stiffer and newer chassis.
