Default If I add on Parrot bluetooth kit instead of OEM what will I be missing?

And could I use the Nokia bluetooth car kit I have in conjuntion with the adapter that's available at parrotkits.com?

the parrot kit will give you full functionality except for caller I'd on the center display...I have not yet gotten mine installed, but they make adapters that even allow use of the multifunction buttons. Only thing I can't speak to is integration with your nokia kit.

Default Yeah, I've seen the kits. I guess I could do without the caller ID on the Nav screen.

Anyone using this already? Thoughts compared to the OEM unit??

I'm SOOOO wanting to buy this 2008 A4 but feel like it should have EVERYTHING I want if I'm buying new. If it was pre-owned, maybe I'd settle but this is new with 9 miles on the odometer!!

There's always configuring one from the factory but that takes too long!!

Default Get the factory Bluetooth

Take my advice and get the factory Bluetooth. It is soooo much cleaner to have it factory installed. I sold my A3 for an A4 and that is the one thing I miss about my A3.

Default how so? with the parrot kit it becomes fully integrated

nothing that looks aftermarket on the dash, and the MFSW buttons control the system. the center display does not show caller ID, but displays PHONE when in use and the system mutes the radio...how much cleaner do you want it?

The factory install has a microphone built into the headliner console near the dome lights. You have to rig your own mic with the Parrot. There is also the Parrot "control pad" that needs to be mounted to the dash somewhere. Plus you have to remove your radio and install it all yourself.

I'm not saying that the Parrot isn't a good alternative. It's the next best thing to factory installed. I'm just saying that if you have the chance to get it factory installed, then do it.

Default what you describe is not true for all kits and makes no sense imho given englsh's post

with the Parrot kit I have (the 3000 Evolution with Multican adapter), you can mount the microphone in the same location (you'd have to mount the mic with the audi retrofit anyway), there is NO control pad as I stated in my post (you control the system using the OEM MFSW buttons on the steering wheel). Finally, with the audi retrofit you'd also have to remove the radio in order to connect everything. The ONLY benefit to the OEM solution over the Parrot kit is the caller ID in the center display....and given the fact that all the parts for the parrot kit can be had for less than $250 plus install ($100 near me), that's not enough of a benefit at over twice the cost (minimum of $700 just in parts for OEM and not including install)...englsh is asking about post purchase options for a bluetooth install...while OEM is certainly doable after the fact, it is nowhere near as practical as the Parrot kit

Default But I want the caller ID & phone functions on the NAV screen.

So I've priced out the bluetooth control module (8P0-862-335-R) for $344.42 & the antenna (8P0-035-503-E) for $20.52 so I guess I just need the microphone & maybe the connector.

Yes, the function of the Parrot kit would be acceptable for $279.99 but seeing as I've got the NAV unit, I want ALL the features!
