Nav+ vs After Market head unit

Anybody have any input and pics on an after market gps(alpine/pioneer). Trying to decide what is better and how an after market would look. Im an audiophile so I want the best sound system I can get...

I have the Nav+ with bose. Very cool set up. Integreated nicely (MP3/sd and 6 disc changer etc..), and works well. Not the best sounding stereo I have ever had though. I thought it would be more adjustable (equalizer etc...) but it still only has bass and treble controls.

it should sound great. I hate changing the OEM deck, never looks clean.

When I finally get around to selling my car I'll have a ton of high end audio gear left over. Debating on whether or not it's worth it to drop it into whatever I get next. I have Diamond Hex's and the old-school PPI Powerclass amps, from before they started sucking. I was going to ebay it all, but if the Nav+ is easy to upgrade maybe I'll save some of it.

Personally the Diamonds are my favorite speaker that I've ever listened to, but the Focals are right up there too. One thing about the Diamonds is that they only really shine when you put a good amount of power behind them. Running off of deck power or a small amp doesn't do them justice.
