Default Does anyone know of an ultra quiet air cleaner they can recommend for listening area?

Allergies and dust are annoying me. I tried a Hunter model from the local Menards and still found it to be loud as well as it smelled like burning oil.

Default I use a Rabbit-Air unit in my small listening room and it works great. Ultra silent unless...

you have it in air quality sensor mode and you let a fart go and it cranks the fans up temporarily to remove your fart stank. Either don't fart or don't use that mode if you want it to remain totally silent.

But running normally in the lower-fan settings, it's virtually silent even when I put my ear right next to the unit, I can't hear the fans at all.

Default I forgot to mention, Rabbit Air uses IR so you can program a Harmony remote to control it :)

Default I actually have all the models...

MinusA2, BioGS, large and small versions all placed in the appropriate size room they can cover. They're all equally silent. I use the smallest one in the listening room.

The largest model MinusA2 is surprisingly quiet for its size and the amount of air it cleans and would be appropriate for a listening area too if the room was bigger.

Default did you do any research on those before you purchased?

I have Honeywell 17000 series in my bedroom and my daughters room. Basic charcoal prefilter with HEPA lifetime (vacuum clean) main filter. It's hella cheaper when compared to Rabbit-Air's. Wondering if the more expensive stuff really does a better job cleaning (not so much concerned with fan noise, IR, gadgets, etc). The things that interest me the most are hoe well they clean, how easy the parts are to clean, and how frequently/costly it is for consumables.

Default no, but I have owned quite a few different brands of air filters in the past...

honeywell, ionic pro, hunter, whirlpool, etc.

The Rabbit Airs are the best I've had in terms of quietness and they're fairly easy to maintain too with the washable and reusable charcoal and primary elements too, which only need replacement every 1.5 years or so.

I've had them for over a year now and they've remained quiet whereas previous filters I've had started out quiet and developed increased noise or chatter after some time even when I clean it and replace the filter elements.
