Issue w/ps3 playing blu ray movies w/Pioneer Elite 92THX-says "not supported"

I am having issues with my setup. I have a PS3 hooked up via HDMI to my Pioneer Elite VS92thx and then the output on my Pioneer going via HDMI to my Mitsubishi HC3000 front pj. I can get the games to play, but it keeps telling me with blu ray movies, "not supported" on the Pioneer display. No video or audio. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong, but it must be something relatively simple. I am currently updating the PS3 software, but don't think that is it. Help please!

I also cannot seem to get the on screen display to work with the HDMI connection. Not sure if what setting I may be missing, but no OSD.

Go to AVSForms (link below)
and I would also consider a new (better)HDMI cable between the receiver and PS - I have read on the forums that this has made a difference

it register/mate and then power up the Pioneer. If I power it the other way around the two don't mate up. Odd, but the AVS forum nailed it.
