Default I've got a Mac 15" Powerbook G4 and I want to use it with my HDTV, what do I need?

I've got one of those drop-cable thingy's, but when I use it, the television shows the computer screen in purple and flickers, and it doesn't appear it is in the full HD resolution anyways. It's a 3 color RGB cable, not the 5 cable ones (but I don't have any of the 5 cable component inputs anyways, so it's not important to get one of those). Is there something I need for a Mac? Do I need to get some sort of converter box? Thanks in advance.

Default Yeah, but no DVI input on my TV.

I need to get it to component RGB cables. I've got the DVI to VGA? cable that came with the powerbook, and I use that to hook up to my drop-cable.

Default DVI to VGA adapter ->VGA to component transcoder

Audio Authority should be able to supply the transcoder. You can usually find them on ebay for around $80, or at least thats what mine sold for.

Then its a matter of finding a compatable resolution with your HDTV. You may want to look for a 'powerstrip' (great pc application) type program.

Default Related question: if you play a DVD through the Mac and port it to the HDTV via DVI...

will that be progressive scan?
