Default Could you live w/out a trackpad on a laptop?

I've been looking at the ultraportable laptops from Lenovo, ie x61 and x200 models and have liked everything they have to offer except the lack of a trackpad. I intend on using a mouse whenever possible, but in the instance that I don't have one, I think having a trackpad vs trackpoint would be nice. Just wanted to see what your thoughts are on this?

Also, I've been looking at the Sony Vaio's, TT and Z series and although they look fantastic, they are really pricey. do you think they're worth the premium?

Default never, I HATE trackpoints

The only way I use a laptop is with the trackpad. I very RARELY plug in a mouse on a laptop, even when I'm setup at a desk for extended period of time.

Default I had an X40 and X60. I currently have an X61 and like the TrackPoint.

I also have a Lenovo S10 and find the trackpad annoying but usable.

Default I don't like track pads but there are many cases where it is the only option.

If you don't have a desk you have no way to use a mouse.
