Default Radio and MMI activated with no key???

Recently I was in my car getting something from the passenger seat and I accidentally bumped the radio on/off button. When I did this, the MMI screen popped up and the radio started playing. My car key was in the house at the time. I didn't know that the electronic components would work without the key in the ignition, but I guess I know now. So is this normal? Were the rest of you guys already aware of this feature???

Thanks!

Ken

The radio has been this way with Audi for over 10 years across the product line. It is kind of nice to let your passengers listen to the radio without leaving them the key

I'm new to Audi, just got my 1st one this past summer, so I'm still learning. I agree that it's a nice feature to have. My question is will the radio automatically shutoff after a certain period of time has gone by, in order to conserve the battery?

Default Yep, it will. It's also nice to listen to the radio without the door chimes when cleaning, etc.

Default All Audis are like that. You can power up the radio or MMI without the car being on.

Default Thanks!! And to think, all this time when I washed the car....

I was washing it with the key in the ignition so I could listen to the radio when cleaning the interior, and hearing that door chime unnecessarily.. ha!

Default Speaking of which......

Is there a way to adjust the shutoff time? Perhaps with Vag-Com? My A4 will play for an hour without shutting off. When washing A8, I have to keep opening the door to turn the radio back on as shuts off after ~15 minutes.

Default How to open the trunk with no key!

Have your wife stick her purse in the trunk, and don't ya know she has her key fob in her purse!?!

My son walks up to the car, and I'm still too far away for my key to activate the locks, and he just pops open the trunk: "look what I can do!"
