Default Got all my goodies out to do the brake maintenance. And then noticed my EBC brakes

and broken clips on the back of the pads. So stopped with the process... Ugh, what is the purpose of the clips? Do they need to be there? I would have though the back of the pad would be smooth as well.

Any input?
I think i might just have audi do the install as it seems to be a little above my expertise.

Default True, seems like it is going to take me much longer than the 2 hours

quoted by my writer though.
I have to send back my ebc pads as they were broken.

Default Clips are to reduce noise/vibration. But...

They have no braking related function. They generally work for me, but you can also use the tack adhesive type product--either brush on or spray on. Sold in most auto parts stores. That's pretty foolproof, usually 95%+ effective.

Make sure we are talking the same language though on the clips. On EBC's (and most all other pads), you don't reuse anything from the old pad set up, including the prior antivibration clips. The new EBC's come with them integrated into the front pads, and a stick on type for the rears. You do re use the big pad retainer/spring clip in front--the one that also covers the center part of the brake caliper toward the outside and that you pry out with a screwdriver to get the pads out to start with.
