Default Drove new LS460 today

Nice car. Very similar interior to our 430. Car goes much better, 8 speed has nearly imperceptible shifts, up or down. No paddles. Brakes OK, didn't hammer too hard, only 30 miles on it.

Our W12 is quieter at 100 than this was, but it was a short, so L has double pane I think, may be as quiet. Lots more fun than the 430, though I hammer it pretty hard.

Far better car than anything BMW or MB makes at moment. Some features our A8's have are here, but execution really nice. Interior nowhere near as nice, and trunk is not as big as A8 or even old LS.

Typical Lexus pre-specc'ed cars, so to get what we want, you wait. Our 600hL is due in Spring, so will just wait for that, but will spec now, I hope. Black bird-eye maple is the shiznit. Only comes with gray guts. OK, but hard to order that way. Grrrr. Still, 460 quick, 600 will be quicker.

BMW, MB, and Audi better start looking over shoulder now.

Default Re: Drove new LS460 today

I have an 03 LS430 and sad to say but the 07 model is a big disappointment. Before I start I wanna say that without all the electronics I had an old Toyota Cressida that was far better car than this new Lexus. I mean the extra 102 HP is nice but the overall copy of the horrible looking new Benz and BMW big bodies is very tacky. I do like the 8 speed transmission but even that is a gee whiz look what we did factor as the fuel econ with it remains the same as mine. While the interior is nice the problem is that the design layout of the new Camry and Avalon is equal to if not better and you can buy 3 loaded Camrys or 2 loaded Avalons and still have some cash left over. My overall impression and I drove the car for over 2 hours is that it will attract the gotta have a new Lexus crowd but existing owners will do well to stay put.

Default I heard that once again on the LS if you want the Sport Package you cannot get some luxury features

like cooled seats and other stuff.
One of our client had a 2004 LS430 with the Sport and could not get these options.
He was waiting for the new one (his brother owns a Lexus dealership) and same thing as well.
So he ordered and took delivery of a 2007 A8L with 20" Sport Package, full Alcantara, Full Leather and B&O sound (among other options)..$95k car!
Black with Cream Beige...beautiful.
His wife has a RS4 and he also has a Gallardo Spyder.

Default Gotta agree with you on your "looks" assesment on the LS for 07.

IMHO, the only car that looks "worse" is that new MB S class.

Default Lexus LS line vehicles are

seriously reliable, rock solid, quiet, luxury, up to date technology filled cruiser for far less money. I would keep LS in my "maybe list".

Default Dealer wants $15K over invoice for a new LS

Yeah, like I'm gonna pay $100K for a Lexus! (even if I had the money)

The interior is uninspiring, there are two or three wood choices, all of them dark, lots of ugly plastic, trunk is tiny (though apparently bigger in the S version than the L, weird) and it seems like a Japanese copy of a German idea. No doubt, it will be quiet and comfortable, but there's more to a car than that. If I wanted comfort, I'd get a big Caddy.

I think the A8 is unmatched. I just hope Audi doesn't take away many of the options and so on and make it more like BMW or MB, seeing as how they're going to raise the prices to match them (or to make consumers perceive so) in terms of quality, prestige, etc.

Default Greed not confined to Audi dealers 8^(. Needs to put down the pipe and step away from the car.
