Default all i can say is wow......repost a few threads down......doh...8^)

Not sure if this was an Audi DE event or what it was, but a new S8 goes crunch.

update====> from Jetjockey:

Got additional news from someone that was there when it happened...

The S8 crash happened last week at Mosport during an Audi dealer day to show the salesmen the products. They also had some S6s and some RS4s there at the track.

Also found out that one of the RS4s was also crashed a day or so later at another track at a press day.

Both cars are totalled, the RS4 had major rear end damage and on the S8 the cost of the airbags alone is close to $40K!

Default Wow...didn't realize it was at Mosport...

Just watched the entire video and sure enough, it's turn 1 at Mosport.

Based on location on the track and the relative position of how the car ended up at the bottom of turn 1, it looks like the driver carried too much speed into the turn and then turned in too late (a classic mistake at turn 1), got on the grass on driver's left, corrected in panic and (probably) lifted, and the car hooked 90 degrees to the driver's right, hit the wall on driver's right and had enough kinetic energy to carry the car across the track backwards and hit the wall again on driver's left.

Nasty hit..and at very high speed too...wow.

That's what insurance is for.

As long as nobody was hurt, don't worry. Audi will make more. Besides, you don't really believe the cars cost anything close to to what they list as the MSRP?
