Default Replacing broken fog light

Has anyone done a DIY replacement of a fog light? I just noticed mine is cracked and can only imagine the cost to get it fixed at the dealer.

Default somewhat easy, just be careful... get the part from genuineaudi.com

it helps if you have someone help you just for step 1

1. grab hold of lower grill and pull to the inside of the car. it helps if your partner in crime uses 2 scredrivers to bend tabs on the outside edge of the lower grill (there are 2 holes on the outside edge that you can't see very well but if you feel around you will find them). if you have a couple long screwdrivers you insert them one in each hole then the top one push the handle down, the bottom push the handle up (or grab both handles with one hand and squeeze). this should release the tabs

2. while your partner is releasing the tabs, pull the grill towards the inside of the car (towards the big grill). This is the hardest part

3. once you have the lower grill off uncrew the fog light (2 or 3 hex screws i think)

4. unpug the fog light

5. remove the bulb and insert it into the new fog light assembly.

6. connect fog light to cable

7. replace fog light back into position, screw it back it. you can also adjust it (higher or lower, this can be done with the lower grill on). there is a scre on on the right or left of the fog light assembly to adjust beam pattern height

8. carefully put lower grill back in, lign up all the tabs and just snap it back into place.

good luck

Default Re: Replacing broken fog light

I had one replaced at Scottsdale(AZ) Audi. Cost me $275. I think the light was about $150.
