Default We went for a wild ride Tuesday night!

Click the image to open in full size.

On our way back from Anchorage, we were 65 miles from home when something broke on the front end. We shot into a snow bank and launched across a side road, then into an 8 foot berm, where the Audi did a nose stand and dropped back onto its wheels. My family walked away with sore necks, but thats it!
I checked the tie rod and it was ok, so I'm not to sure what happened, I know the CV joint is pulled out of the tranny and the shock and spring is pulled away from the frame. All I know is I'm happy we are all ok!
We hit the snow bank where my Yukon is sitting in the back ground.

Default Wow....that's unbelievable. Glad everyone is OK.

Another example of how these cars are such tanks. (Specifically C4s)

Default The LCA going out makes sense. That's why I thought it was my tie rod..

My wife couldn't control the car at all. I had just had surgery on my hand the night before, so I was loopie from the meds. That's why she was driving, I feel lucky we all walked away from it! : )

Default Looks like the LCA ball-joint popped out. that's why you should always replace that bolt!

Default Yikes! glad you are all OK...

my guess would be a control arm or lower ball joint (not sure how the A6 suspension is set up) for sure given how that front wheel is pointing in (if that wasn't from the accident).

I've heard of this happening on A4s before, but thankfully everyone that had the issue were going <10mph.

again, glad everyone walked away unharmed... def not a pretty sight!
