about how hard is it to replace the lower oil pan gasket?
she's a leakin' along with my oil cooler seal. anything I need to look out for like special audi specific tools?
Looks like you just take of the front bumper and radiator and have at it right? do I need to use sealant around the new gaskets?

My personal experience with oil cooler seal wasn't one of my best memories. I had the same leaks that you currently have and ended up having to replace the entire oil cooler assembly plus a new lower oil pan (more stress cracks than the gasket itself on the pan). The oil cooler was leaking oil then I replaced the seal and 5 days later, the leak came back but as coolant. Wasted quite a bit of money on the ordeal but was foolish for not asking fellow aw members at the time. I've heard those are common leaks but normally you shouldn't have to replace all the parts I did. A mechanic helped me out on this(or so I think) so I am not sure how easy it was but I'm not really mechanically inclined which doesn't help much. Take your time and good luck with it!!

no bumper removal required...
you'll need to:
1) drain oil (duh)
2) loosen 4 bolts holding front sway bar to subframe and pull it down so you have room to get to rear bolts on pan
3) remove the 50 gazillion screws that hold the pan down
4) wood and hammer. love tap and gently pry on lil pan to get it off
5) remove another 6 dozen screws from oil pick up tube to free rest of gasket
6) clean mating surfaces on block and lower oil pan seal
7) reinstall everything in reverse order
For the oil cooler seal:
1) oil drained from oil pan seal
2) remove oil filter
3) remove large nut (24mm iirc) that holds oil cooler to upper oil pan
4) unscrew nipple from upper oil pan
5) pull cooler from upper oil pan to get to bad o-ring
6) clean surfaces and reinstall new o-ring..
7) reassemble in reverse order
Final
Fill with oil and run motor to check for any leaks.
hope that helps! kind of a PITA job, but not too terribly difficult.
