Default a4 gas needle recall?

Hey does anyone know if there's been a recall for a4 gas needles yet? I know there has been a lot of talk, and lots of people (including me) are having issues with the needle dropping to empty randomly. There's a fix in here somewhere, but it's really involved and I'd rather have someone else do it, and not pay for it. Free things are good.

Default Not as far as I know.

Replacing the fuel gauge sender is not hard as long at you are comfortable with poking around inside the gas tank. There's a write-up on my website, I think.

Default Hey Doctor D...

Do you happen to have the part number to the fuel sender? My guage has been screwie for a while now. I've already swapped clusters to test, and it didn't fix.

Default My old sender says 8D0 919 673 B.

You may be able to fix the old one if you have soldering skills. The problem is a bare wire about an inch long that eventually wears and breaks causing intermittent contact. I kept my old sender in case the used one I bought breaks so I can replace the wire.
