Default Please read this ICV post, (also in the a4 forum)

2 weeks ago my car started sputtering around 200 RPM so I hurriedly came to AW to figure out what the problem was. I was instantly told that it was my ICV (thanks Kris Hansen) and cleaned it and checked it. I took a reading of the ICV and got around 16 ohms, which I was promptly told was too high and to check again. I checked again, but still got around 16, but I blame the multimeter, and I need to get a new one. But since then my car has not been acting up and seemed if all was normal so I was told that it would be OK if I drove around until the ICV started giving me problems.

Well, that ended up being tonight. As I started to slow, my engine immediately died but started up with no problem, but died again. I could only keep the engine running if I held my foot on the gas. I let the car sit for a couple hours and then started it back up and it was fine. I am going to order a new ICV tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure that this still sounded like an ICV problem to everybody. I have no VAG and couldn't get anybody in my area to respond so I can't tell by myself.

Does this still sound like an ICV issue.
TIA,
Paul

Default Sounds like it to me

I replaced my ICV 1 year ago. I cleaned it a few times and it always seemed to act up after a few months. I haven't had any stalling problems since I installed the new ICV.

Default Yeah, sounds like it's high time

My idle sucked, and the electric resistance of the ICV was only slightly out of spec. Yours is way off.

Default In addition to the ICV, don't forget to clean the throttle body
