Default couple of questions

1. the light on my dash went out(2 months) i used the search and seen article about a button under the steering but theres none in my car(96). i figured i have to change the bulb(s) by removing the dash. can anyone tell me how many bulbs and amps?

2. my car is at 163,000miles. i have not changed any of the vaccum lines since 70,000miles.can some body tell me which ones need to be changed and where to get the vaccums?

3 besides, that 02 sensors, temp sensors, breath hose,plugs.... are always done. just got a vag yesterday but still gonna learn how to use it.

4 how the hell do u get to this 12v development? i came in through mr.d's post in the a4 forum.

Default All my diagnostic lights lit up too...

You'll know if it's the fuse if the radio, seat heater and climate control butons also don't light up.
Good luck.

Default The gauge cluster background illumination is out?

If all bulbs are dead, I wonder why (Check the fuse). I have had never more than one bulb burn out at a time.

If it's just the bulbs, you need the orange ones (1.1W), but remove a sample to be sure! Don't let the dealer sell you a new instrument cluster for $400. They try that. They might say they don't have a part number for those bulbs. One bulb will run you about $6. Maybe you can find a less expensive bulb of the same kind at an electronis supply store. Make sure you have a sample for comparison: These bulbs have an unusual bayonet socket.

PS: This forum is so hard to find, because it's top-secret. ;-)
