You can and procedures are on our web site but, if you do not have the SKC number for your car, you probably will not be able to do the immobilizer work if you car is so equipped.

It would be a second key for a 2001 allroad I don't know if it is immobilizer equipped? What is an SKC # ? Clearly I know little about my cars and Vag-com. Say I buy a key on ebay whom can I get to cut it?
I'm trying to justify to myself buying the $350 cable from you folks. What other reason would it be worth it to me? I have an 01 allroad and an 01 S4

First, for your cars, you could use our KEY series interfaces which sell for $250.

An SKC# is needed to program keys and so on for the immobilizer in the car. The SKC is the equivalent of your bank account's PIN number. It is a unique number that is used to identify the user who is going to change the key coding. Without the SKC, you cannot gain access to the information needed to change the settings.

Having said all that, since you have a '01 vehicles, it may be that you don't need an SKC as the vehicles may not have the immobilizer. :-)

2001 Allroad likely DOES have an immobilizer.

So this makes it impossible to program keys for this car? Or will it just not make it immobile when locked with the second key?
