Default Change radio's on/off behavior with Vag-com?

Is it possible to change the radio's auto-off behavior in my TT? The radio turns off as soon as the ignition is turned off... annoying when you want to hear the end of a news story, but don't want to keep the engine idling.

Radios in VWs keep playing after ignition is off, until you remove the key. Is this behavior changeable via Vag-Com or is it hardwired into Audi's wiring scheme?

The radio will turn back on with the button, so I know the radio is on an 'always-hot' circuit.

Thx, ~john

Default Don't think you can change that via diagnostics.

Have you checked with other TT owners to see if theirs work the same way? My thought is that ignition switch might be defective.

Default FWIW, the Concert II on my '99.5 A4 behaves the same way as your TT.

Default Did you know that...

When you turn off your car (and radio with it), you can turn on your radio again by simply turning it off and on.

I think that power is provided to the radio for up to two hours ... the key doesn't even have to be in the switch

Hope it helps

Default Radios that stay on after I've turned the car off annoy the pi$$ out of me. Seems most rental cars

do that. If you want to hear the end, either keep the car on or punch the radio back on right after switching the car off.

Default It's always powered, though it will switch off automatically after some period of time. One simply

needs to reach in and switch off/on again to get another 2 hours or so of play time.

Default Audi has changed this for the US models...

some times in the past. All the current US OEM HU turn off with the ignition. The European HU turn of when removing the ignition key. No way to change this using VAG-COM, at least has nobody found a way yet.

My US spec Symphony II turned off with the ignition, so does the US RNS-E a friend installed. My EU RNS-E turns now off when I remove the key, just like it used to be back in Germany.

You could try to get a EU spec Concert II but then you will loose AM and XM/Sirius (if supported by the HU).

Default Thanx for all the replies... US market VWs work like EU market Audis > more convenient.
