Default 92 100s trans problem will vag-com give codes?

ok, i havve no local dealer and am looking into trying the vag-com SW. if I get the cable and the "unregesterd downloaded" Sw,will it give me the codes for my transmission shift problems, it is hitting neutral between 2ond and 3rd gears, not totally sureit is electrical problem but it doesn't slip and seems like a switch or sensor problem, just don't want to spend the extra $$$ on the full VAG setup, and find it's not electrical it's a $1500 tranny... the 92 100 has the 2x2 port in the fuse box, what do i need and what will it cost me? the trans will down shift fine just not upshift unless you let off the gas then it shifts smooth, if you continue to accelerate it will hit neutral run up to 5000rpm then slam into 3rd

thanks
Jon
