Default Need help re: cross-country skiing

Thinking of going cross country skiing over new years. How far north should I plan on going to ensure decent snow? Any recommendations for northern Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, or maybe Wisconsin? How tired would i get if I am out of shape? Good spots for beginners?

Also, any good links to Bed & Breakfast places? Expedia is failing me on small, local joints.

thanks

Default I have done some in the Boyne area of Michigan (m)

If you downhill ski, you can do that too. I know there is Boyne Highlands, Nub's Knob (sp?), and another I can't remember.

Not in shape? Start on a short distance and work your way back when you get tired. It is a good way to improve fitness. Have fun.
