Default My CEL came on last night. Took my chipped ECU out and now it's not on anymore. Any ideas?

Should I take it in to have it checked? Does my chipped ECU just have a code that needs cleared or could the extra power from the chip be tripping the CEL because something in my engine's about to go?

Default codes are stored on each ECU

Default Yup. If the problem is recurring, the CEL will come back on shortly...

You should probably have checked the codes prior to pulling the ECU, but you could put the old ECU back in and the code should still be there, IIRC.

Certainly would have checked if I had the means. I have no VAG though and I didn't wanna trouble anyone with one for such a thing before I had a better idea of what may be going on. If I pop the chip back in and the CEL still shines I'll prolly just roll around stock until the next GTG or something. :-\

Default Thanks but the CEL just came on with the stock ECU so something's obviously not right :-(

It's stumbling at Idle now, too. It's going in tomorrow morning.

Default Verdict is a bad EGT sensor causing the MAF to make the engine run rich

Convered under warranty. Get it back tomorrow.
