Finally finished with work on my new Audi gift car
Well, after working through that heatwave and loosing some weight I'm doing replacing the front A-arm bushings and balljoints, they were totally shot, changed the engine oil to synthetic, changed the airfilter to one that is oil/foam based, changed the transaxle/rear diff. oil with 75W-90 synthetic, put new Bosch plat.+4 #4477 spark plugs and a new distributor cap/rotor and took it out for a drive.
WOW, that is all I can say about it from when I got the car and drove it. I liked it a lot before but now it's superb. I can now really see why people love their Audi's. the change was incredable. It flys up to 100mph and is rock solid in it's ride. Before it had some clunking and some vibration but with totally shot bushings and balljoints that was understandable. I'm going to have my old Datsun Z car towed away and won't shed a tear now, the Audi is so much better to drive now. It has a solid feel for the road I've not really experienced sence (don't laugh too hard here) sence I had a very modified 1966 Corvair with the Chev smallblock mid engine conversion. Though I still wish I had that car.
I let my cousin take it out for a drive, he was the one who gave me the Audi, even he said he feels like getting another one again. He kind of now regrets giving it too me but I think the front end problems were part of the reason, he thought it was a expensive repair but oh well. He got one of those VW Jetta's and said it just ain't as nice as that Audi....
I've found that the Audi really likes the 10W-40 AMSOIL synthetic oil, there is no longer any lifter noise at all unless it sits for a long time before starting and then it only lasts less then 2 sec. and it very smooth and quite.
I love this car.. 4000CS quattro... The 4door that drives like a sports car.
Now do find someone to take the Datsun Z car off my hands.. I still have the 3 2bbl Mikuni's for it that I know someone would love to have. Kind of wish I could run those on the Audi... Oh well..
