Default OT: Anybody have any preference on Blackberry management? Is BES worth the cost?

Or am I fine using the Blackberry Internet Service? Our IT company has offered me the Enterprise Server for $150/year.

Also what is your browser of choice?

Thy loving smoothness and torqueness shall follow me all the days of my driving and I will dwell in the house of the V6 Bi-Turbo forever.

Default per year?..

... the company I work for has its own BES and they own it with no annual fees.

You should be able to get a free BES for a single user for home use if you want. Check Blackberry's site.

Just remember, even though you have your own BES, all messages still get routed through RIM in Waterloo.

Default BES pushes contacts, calendar, email, IM, collaboration services.

Compatible with Lotus, Exchange, I believe Novell too.

Price depends on how many users you have and can use as leverage, as well as how well you bargain with your account rep. We piloted two units with Rogers, then opted to go live with Bell. Now we have Crackberries from both carriers on BES, so that is not a problem.

Is it worth the cost? Depends on the number of users, the nature of your business as well as criticality of your data being available to you instantly (as long as RIM is up and running ) ).

Just a note from a security perspective: make sure you properly configure IT polices in BES if you opt for it.
