Default You don't need a short shifter.

Think about it. It does not look cool at all, and standart shifter is much more comfy.
If you descide to go for it anyways, there is no need to spent any money on install, you can easily do it yourself.

Default What kind of car do you have?

If you have a S4, order a Toy Guy shifter.

Default I personally think the SS is a very beneficial mod...

Brands to look at would be neuspeed, B&M, UUC and Stratmosphere. As for where to get them from I'm not too sure... I would just order from an online store.

Ask on the main board... If you are not totally agains ordering from the states they'll find you a sweet deal and give you all the info you need.

Default Here is a picture of before and after Neuspeed SS

Click the image to open in full size.

I was worried about getting a SS at first, because I had seen picture of the Neuspeed that were very short. I finally chose the Neuspeed, because I have a 1998.5 with the pushdown reverse and the Neuspeed replaces the whole assembly with the 1999.5, getting rid of the rubbery feeling of the pushdown !

I got mine from RMR in Montreal. If you order from them you can probably not pay PST and save the hassle of duty of ordering from the US.

I installed it myshelf, it took about 2.5 hrs with the proper tools (very important : universal joint for ratchet, ratchet type 10mm key, ballpoint hex screwdriver and a stick with a magnet tip for when you drop a nut). On a 1998.5 you can only remove the leather boot to get access to the shifter, which makes it tricky... Do not forget to mark the position of the shifter to the linkage of the transmission BEFORE you take it apart, this will save you hours of adjustment...

Good luck,

Pierre

Default Depends on the car. If you have an S4.....

..get the Toyguy shifter.

http://toyguy.o-f.com/

I had mine shipped to Vancouver. Easy install. Very inexpensive and the best ss out there.
