Default So, what's the deal with winter package from dealer or to put snow's on stock wheels

We'll get the A4 tomorow and wanted to know what's the package that the dealer sell for 1.8T quattro. I assume they sell one, I've brought one for my 4.2 last year (16" wheels for $2000 CDN with Pirelli tires). So what consist the package of the dealer and how much it cost? Or it is cheaper to put snow tires on stock 17" wheels?
TIA

Default Depends, are you putting aftermarket rims on your A4?...

ie 18" If so put snows on OEM rims for the winter and get new rims in the spring. If you're going to use the OEM rims for everyday summer buy 16" rims and tires steelies are cheaper but don't look as good as a cheap alloy rim. 16" rims and tires are cheaper than 17's and there is a bigger selction of 16" winter tires available.
As to the dealer pricing, I'm in the same boat and their price is close to anything I've been able to source. I't's more an issue of what 'look' I want rather than $. $2000 is about right.
Hope this helps.
Hugh

Default The dealer will screw you on all counts

Find a cheaper shop, get some 15 or 16 inch wheels and tires and call it a day.

17 inch snows don't perform all that well in snow, they are more of a cold weather tire.

Default I will not put aftermarket wheels on my wife's new A4...

will not spend money for that. I think dealer sell a package for about $1300 for 15" wheels (hub caps) and tires (Pirelli). I think I'll go for that. Do you think it's fair price?

Default They sell a package for $1300 for 15" wheels, hub caps and Pirelli tires

Could I get it cheaper if I buy only the hub caps from the dealer and then buy steel wheels and tires from an other shop?
