Default Montreal Garage (long)

Just to let the people in the forum who are from Montreal know that this garage, R&A Auto
on St-Jacques street, should be avoided especially if you have a very technical problem. FYI,
this garage was recommended by previous owners in this forum. I brought my car in to fix my
brakes (ABS acting up prematurely) and the mechanic, Rudy, had recommended that I
replace my rotors and pads. Given that it was 40% cheaper than the dealer, I agreed to this
(will have to see how long these non OEM pads and rotors last). This did not solve my
problem and I took it back to Rudy. He then checked all the ABS sensors and concluded that
it was fine. He then claimed that I may need a new alternator because the car was not
charging properly and this could affect the ABS. Go figure given that the voltage was
consistently reading 13 amps. He wanted to replace my alternator and at which point I
decided to cut my losses and run. I took it back to the dealer today to verify the ABS sensors
and indeed there was a problem. Rudy is a nice guy and could probably fix the ordinary
problems, but avoid him if you have any serious technical problems with your car. It will save
you lots of time and money as I figured out unfortunately.

Default ouch

did you actually need to change the discs and pads or was that a waste of money?

Did the dealer fix your problem?

Sorry to hear about your aggravation & thanks for the heads up.

Default Agreed, Autostrasse sucks in a big way

I have to admit I don't mind the parts department though.
