Default Well, so I didn't wake up this morning and say to myself "hmmm, I feel like gutting the M3" but....

Yeah, decided that today was the day. Rob and I were sitting at Chili's for lunch and just randomly I said "hey, let's go back to my house and gut the M3!" And off we went. We called Tomasz and Roger to come help. Six hours later, 282Lbs had been removed from the car. What used to be a 3175Lb sedan is now a 2893Lb sedan. My goal is 500Lbs, so I have to find 212lb more to remove. I still have my sunroof, stock exhaust, stock seats, and AC. Those will come out in time. We also did not get a chance to remove all the dynamat-type sound deadening material as we ran out of daylight. That's next on the list. I also have to drop weight off the front end wherever I can.

Driving the car is interesting. Is it loud? Sure. It's only going to get louder. With R compound tires that are warmed up (put about 10 miles on them before I really started playing with the car), I spin all the way through first and part of the way through second gear. When they were colder, I spun through first and second, and didn't get traction until third. Acceleration is notably quicker and braking is notably better.

Anyway, here are some pictures. The pile of rubble that came out of the car is pretty amazing. It's like an earthquake came through or something. I weighed everything on a bathroom scale (took my weight as a baseline and difference between what displayed and my baseline was how I weighed everything).

A big, huge thanks goes out to Rob, Tomasz, and Roger for all your help today.

Half my dashboard gone. I was going to keep the entire dash and the center console. Roger felt otherwise. I said fine, less weight.

More earthquake rubble. That's half of the carpet on top there. Yes, it needed to be vacuumed...
