I didn't have to remove old grout, but I imagine that to be the biggest PITA. Grouting is not that hard though. It will take you a day to apply it all, and a day to dry.

dremel makes a grout removal bit that i've heard works wonders, so long as you don't chip a tile.
i just had our master shower re-tiled and would have done it myself but the greenboard had to be replaced. paid ~$700 including the re-boarding, tiling, grouting, caulking, re-assembly of shower glass. not as nice a job as i would have done (natch) but it'll sell. |

I am prob going to get the dremel tool which I have heard many people mention for the grout removal. I would imagine that would take a few hours as well.

It's not terribly hard, just need patience. Get yourself a rotozip to remove the old grout. One key to doing vertical surfaces is the mixture of the grout. And I learned a great trick for sealing. Don't waste your money on any of those chemical sealers... melted wax works GREAT, and you won't need to reseal it for a long time.
