1. Auto FX at 1006 Haddonfield Road in Cherry Hill. This is their new location (June, 2002); they are in a mini mall area next to a car wash -- the car wash is easily seen from the street whereas Auto FX is in back. Andy uses Llumar and has been tinting for over ten years.
2. Glasstint Specialists at 3121 Rte 73 in Maple Shade. They are about three miles East of the Betsy Ross Bridge. They've been at it since 1985; they use Bekaert/SolarGard. If you can wait until Friday I can tell you how my tint comes out; I'm having it done at Glasstint Specialists. FYI: I went with them because I needed a very specific % of tint that only Bekaert has. It was a toss-up between the two places before I had to choose a specific % tint. Either place does superb work and they fully back their work. Let me know if I can help with anything else. I have turned into a tint expert over the last two months of DEEEEEP research which has included calls to manufacturers, motor vehicle departments and light specialists as well as downloading data from every known source. If I can't answer the question, I know who can! Best, T. |

Great, thanks for the information! Please let me know how your car turns out. I know you are not supposed to tint the frontside windows in NJ, but can you get stopped and ticketed or just fail inspection?

As far as I know (in New Jersey) it's just the inspection where you run into problems; what I hear is that most people go back to their original installer a couple of days before the inspection and have it removed... then they get it redone right after the inspection! I guess doing it that way every two years isn't too bad for most people.
About my tint job: So far so good. They were quick, courteous and informative. The car was ready and clean when promised. I still have to wait the standard two days for the drying to complete before I will have the tint at its finest. No "rolldowns" or window washing for two days, etc. Right now there are some "bubbles" that disappear after about 48 hours of drying. They aren't really bubbles, but that's the best description I can use. I had a special order tint made for my car so I had to pay a premium, but you will probably pay $225 for all the windows at Glasstint Specialists (Maple Shade). Let me know if I can help with anyhting else before you go for the tint. Like I said, I have become a bit of a consumer expert when it comes to tinting - I know a lot of the little details that make a huge difference when it comes to getting a car tinted; I also know about the tint percentages, visible light transmission, and UV absorption, etc. Best, T |

The dealership is just so poorly run their customer service is abysmal! They don't answer the phone. They never call you back. They couldn't get me my plates for my A4 before the temp expired. When my coil failed they told me 7 days to get a new one from Germany, I had to call 10 dealers till I found one up at Bell Audi. They don't give loaner cars, you have to rent one and they cover the daily fee without insurance or gas. They really have the attitude that they don't care if you buy from them or not.

Hmmmm...
OK.... I went there for a simple maintenance and everything was done well and done within a couple of hours. BUT... I guess you're right; the attitude was less than enthusiastic. It was kind of a ho-hum "whatever" attitude. Thanks. |

This is the final and true test of their quality/service. I'll let you know how it goes.
