Default anything worth seeing in west tx? planning a road trip in .... late july or early august

not exactly the ideal time to move to san antonio, ...

we have quite a few stops planned in CA/AZ/NM but not so much in Texas. what's missing? I think we're currently routed down the 10 but detours are welcome

(map shows ~3200 miles, 5 or 6 mostly-full days)

thanks

Default That's quite a drive - last summer I drove from 6 to 1 on your map, with

a few detours along the way. Had a great time - though I wasn't in the S4...

Have a safe & fun drive, Welcome to Texas & nice sig pic!

FWIW

Once in TX watch out for DPS (Dept of Public Safety) - black & white state trooper; especially since you'll be nearing the end of your trip and possibly tired - if you get pulled over at night proactively turn on the interior lights so they can see inside - if during the day time take off your shades before the officer reaches your door, stay in the car (with seatbelt on), roll the window down & have your drivers license and insurance paper work ready. Let them make conversation, or not - when asked where you're headed inform you're moving to San Antonio from Seattle. If they ask if you know why they pulled you over - say no sir/mam. Be politely matter of fact. If you were speeding, own up to it in your mind.

Not trying to cause any concern - but some tips can go a long way...

Default I've been down 101/1 from Seattle to San Diego a few times, lotta fun

I'm dropping my wife off in San Antonio for school. She hasn't seen much of the tourist-y things south of Oregon, and it'll be our only real vacation together for a while. I'll probably fly down once a month or something, and arrange a different route for the trip home next September.

Too bad it's not in the S4... almost every road trip I've been on has been in a crap car. This time around it'll be in a 96 Camry

Default thanks again, i've tossed your recommendations in the map.

i'll start a rough plan for our overnight stops pretty soon. have friends & family to visit in a few cities, plus sonoma and all the tourist destinations along the way... we'll try to hit as much as is reasonable for an eight or nine day drive

Default Don't feel too bad. I've done a road trip in the S......

Try finding a proper sized tire outside of a major city. Try.
