Default Wheel Bearing Replacement (MA)

Need wheel bearing replacement on B5 A4. What shops in Boston/South Shore have you guys used for this?

Like 2+ hrs labor and ~$60 bearing? That seems to be the general estimate after STFA.
Thoughts?

Also, how long have any of you driven on "bad" bearings?

Thanks!

Default 2nd, although I've driven on a bad wheel bearing for over a month

You just have to keep an eye on it if it's noisy. If the wheel starts to get wobbly get it changed ASAP. I've had them get loud but they were still solid.

IMHO, they'll make an uncomfortable amount of noise for a long time before they get dangerous. That said, you obviously want to keep an eye out for weird behavior, overheating, etc.
I seem to remember that the dealer warranty repair time is already over two hours, so I think you can expect off-warranty flat-rate to be higher.
You don't say what year, but be aware that there are a couple of different types of front bearings for 2000MY, and of course you need to get the right one (there are VIN breaks).
Good luck!

Any difference in timeline and consequence for a front WB? I'm a few weeks away from my summer vacation and it'd be hard to squeeze the repair time in. It's noisy, but not all the time.
