Default ACNA Event at Miller Motorsports Park

HEY NOW !!! WOOT!

the two day event at miller was about as cool as it gets,
and believe me now, and listen to me some other time,
i've been to some way cool ones, ...

i'll start at the beginning. the drivers' meeting at the holiday inn, friday night. everyone got their packets and shirts, and had a chance to meet up with old friends and make some new ones. one is silver, and the other's gold.

the meeting was clean, everyone even paid attention, and asked good questions

all questions had answers, too

the dinner for the instructors that night, was yummy and a lot of fun. the red iguana restaurant has some mighty tasty food, and our waitress was professional and efficient, tolerant, sweet and nice, and if i might add, she was tasty, too. thanx to the red iguana, we'll be back.

bright and early, morning of the first day, folks queued up to get tech inspection

a hale and hearty thank you to the cats who worked tech inspection, and then continued to work their booties off, for two days straight. while everyone else was having fun driving. these monsters of the garage toiled away, smiles on their faces the whole time. great guys.

kasim conducted the drivers' meetings and orientation, smooth sailing, and again, a good exchange of questions, answers, and anecdotes from the group

these three guys were the real key. (left to right) jeff, david, and kasim. they are pros at keeping things running smooth. as a matter of fact, the race control kingpin at miller, who was up in the booth with jeff all day, both days, said he's done these kind of events for the bmw groups, the porsche groups, etc. he said that he has never seen an event and trackday, go so smoothly and properly. hats off to our three musketeers. (and to all the other staffers and instructors, who quietly facilitated the goings on.they were all 'key', too.)

then the real fun began. under the sweet blue tooele skies, time for a few parade laps, so the everyone could preview the track.

what could be better than cruising a parade lap in a pearly s4, at miller?

the first sessions were drills, to get the cars and the drivers warmed up. a 'slalom course', a 'maximum brake zone', and the most fun, the 'lane toss'.

without further ado, let's get on track!!

a couple shots from "black rock hairpin" ...i never did see no black rocks, tho

"attitudes"
there were some big, s8 attitudes, and small, tt attitudes
Click the image to open in full size.

there were some 32 attitudes that i'm kinda partial to, .... guess why.

there was a whole shmorgasboard of attitudes

the "wind up" showed more variety
the sound this gt3 made was positively bone chilling

the instructors showed with some shweeet vehicles

and then the "release"
they even let 'station wagons' on track (tee hee)

hot locals

some american muscle, the z6

a little lotus, with not enough miles on her

and the precious little noble (this image is not distorted, the profile of this wee gem just looks in a rush, the way it is, still or moving, it seems to warp space)

another pic of a 'faster' rabbit, not sure how this qualifies for a second pic, but, ....
oh yeah, it's my post

one more 'action' shot. the banquet was plentiful, delicious, and nutritious. and the auction afterwards, to benefit acna, was a lot of fun, and generated some good dough to help our club. there were a lot of pretty amazing prizes, as well as the useful stuff. thanx to the folks that were so very generous, to the benefit of all of us.

thank you to the holiday inn, downtown salt lake. the staff made us feel right at home, and it seemed every one of them made a point to say how much they look forward to seeing us back, either in the nice old place, or in the new location, whichever it turns out to be.

thanks to strong audi, salt lake, and all the sponsors, for their strong support of our group, and this event.

most importantly, i'm confident i speak for everyone in attendence, ... a powerful thank you to audi club north america, the rocky mountain chapter, the happy participants, and the coordinators and staff of this wonderful event. it was about as good as stuff gets in this life on this planet. ... thanks, everybody.

see you next year, ....

Default boki, awesome pics

although some don't seem to be working.

Anyway, my job (I'm the doofus holding the flags) in control was made easy by all the others planning. Also, Trevor from 3zero3 was a HUGE help, quickly picking up how to do grid.

Hope everyone had a good time.

Sorry to everyone who I sent to the back of the grid for running the checker, but hey, breaking the rules is breaking the rules.

Looking forward to next year.
