Default Octane ratings in Colorado are LOW

Has anyone ever noticed that in Colorado we have some of the lowest octane ratings in the nation.

Our Premium is 91, Just below us in New Mexico - its 95-98.

Our lowest is 85, NM is 87. (for the same price)

Most "new" cars require 87+, of course we have to run 91.

But I have noticed a bit of knocking occuring in my engine lately...still wondering why it occuring with 91...time for a tune..maybe it was bad gas.

Default This is an elevation adjustment...

...and is universal.

Here in Northern New Mexico, premium is either 91 (most of Santa Fe) or, in higher towns, 90, just like in Colorado. Pre-ignition isn't such a problem as you go higher. HPH

Default I'm no expert, but I think it has to do w/ the lower amounts of oxygen in the atmosphere up here.

Default Are you sure it's knocking and not missing?

I can believe knocking if you're running a lot of boost. But 91 octane makes my stock 2.7t miss.
