Default Re: ACNA Nationals, I'll call them when I can but maybe you guys can help..

Does it take both days to complete the driver's training or is it just a one day course repeated to accommodate all of the drivers?

Also, I'm seeing conflicting dates between Infineon's schedule and ACNA's schedule. Is the driving really on the 4th and 5th (Infineon's sched.) or the 6th and/or 7th (ACNA)? Knowing if I can do this in one day will help with coordinating things at work.

Default Also, could someone please chime in on their experiences with the need (or not) for track insurance

Default ACNA Driver Education School

Click the image to open in full size.

I don't know the schedule thingy but the 2 day school works like this, depending on your experience.

If you are new to driving school or even have 3 or so under your belt, the first part of the first day is classroom instruction on vehicle dynamics, friction circle, apexes, smoothness, proper seating position. After the classroom instruction, there are exercises in the paddock (threshold braking, slalom, lane avoidance) that take you to lunch.

After lunch, you generally have 2 or 3 sessions on the track with your instructor.

The next day is all on track driving trying to become smoother, not necessarily faster, but usually smoother is faster. You will be dog tired at the end of both days, but go home a better driver.

BTW the pic is from my first ACNA school at Thunderhill.

Default Definitely Two Days, Saturday/Sunday Oct 6-7 for the track event.

There is a 1-day carting event scheduled for Friday. Along with various scenic drives, wine tours, etc...

Default I figured you guys would have the answers!

Thanks for the responses, fellas. I was aware about the extra 'experience' activities, like golfing and such, but the correct dates and track event info. was what I was missing (Thanks Morgan).

I'm definitely going to make arrangements to make it because this sounds exactly like what I'm looking for (Thanks BuddyDog).

I'll be looking into the insurance thing as well. If I get any decent info. I'll post it here. This will be the first DE for me and I get the feeling not the last.

Default I want to sign up for the two track days, but mostly because I want my wife to do

driver education and have on track experience. She hasn't done any such training before and I'd like her to have more confidence in how a car handles.

I have done track days before with the Audi Club, a lot up at PIR in Portland and found them invaluable.

I assume that we can share the same car right ? Would it lessen possible track time ?

Default You can share a car

Obviously, you'd have to urn in two different run groups. Your wife in A (beginners). Sounds like you have the background to run in B or C. (but confirm with the organizers)

Assuming the car can take the beating, shouldn't lose any track time. Make sure you have plenty of brakes, etc. There might be a minor issue on Saturday morning while she is doing the exercises.

Default Never checked on it...but then again..I am prepared mentally to suffer the consequences

I dont want to alert my insurance company of my track escapades. BTW, I have had friends that did grey area activities due to things that happened on the track. Not my style.
