Default Questions on Cali smog requirements

I am going to be stationed at beale afb in jan and i was just curious if anyone near there has had issues with smogging their car with either a test pipe or a gutted cat. i gutted my cat about 5 months ago without the intention of going there (im in texas where they dont give a damn) and im just worried about passing smog with it.

Default as long as the car doesn't have a CEL and the readiness code can be obtained . . .

you should be okay as long as it passes the visual inspection.

Do you have a chip?

APR would be good because it can ignore the cat efficiency code iirc . . .

Default If he can get readiness all pass. But that might be difficult since cat efficiency is one of the

checks. If he hasn't reset the ECU and it is still ready from before the gutting, then he should be ok emissions wise. But the CEL may have already come on since then.

Default Unless you find a blind smog tech, no cat shouldn't pass a visual.

Default All the smog shops I've heard of look under the car with a flashlight to confirm the presence of a

stock looking cat or at least one with a CARB stamp. So I don't think he'll even get as far as the sniffer.
