when I had my inspectors license it was "no larger than a quarter ($0.25 piece) in the windshield wiper area. Outside the wiper area, unlimited.
I have had four stone chips in my '94 Dodge Caravan for years that have never been an inspection issue. Two are about the size of a quarter in the wiper area. One is larger but o/s the wiper area. The same shop has inspected this vehicle since it was new. I have never discussed it with the shop. My insurance will pay 100% for repair of a stone chip using some sort of expoxy. Replacement comes under Comprehensive which I carry $100 deductible since the premium is only a couple dollars more than $500 deductible. One could ask, why I have never had these stone chips repaired? I can't tell you except I just don't want to spend any time on it. Hope this helps! Sort of like not wanting to spend any time on CPF's (Sorry for the whine, but I had to do it ;D). |

I have about a 4 inch crack down in the extreme lower driver's side corner. It starts at a star chip from a rock and goes about 4 inches toward the upper right at a 30 degree angle or so. Not really in line of vision.
Anyway, I put in a claim w/ insurance. I'll have to pay the deductible if they replace it, but they'll repair it for free. That's what I was wondereing what the difference would be if they repair verse replace. Anyway, the glass company is coming out this afternoon between 1-5 to do something. |
